Training and Consultancy to Support Emotional Wellbeing in Schools

Supporting Emotionally Healthy and Relational School Cultures

As an Educational Psychotherapist, Teacher and Consultant, I offer training and consultancy for schools, local authorities and education professionals who are committed to developing emotionally healthy, relationship-centred practice.

I believe that education must be holistic, creative, and compassionate with children’s social and emotional development at the very heart of learning. When children feel emotionally safe, connected and understood, they are able to engage, learn and thrive.

My work focuses on helping educators understand the vital connection between emotional wellbeing and learning. Through training and consultancy, I support schools to develop policy, practice and provision that recognise the impact of relational trauma, attachment, and adverse life experiences on children’s ability to learn and relate to others.

What we often see as ‘behaviour’ is, in reality, communication a reflection of underlying emotional need. By deepening understanding and building staff confidence, schools can respond in ways that support healing, growth and positive engagement.

Training and Consultancy for Emotionally Healthy Schools
Emotionally Healthy Collaborative Approach

A Collaborative Approach

I work alongside teachers, pastoral staff, ELSAs, SENCOs, leaders and multi-agency professionals to:

  • Build understanding of emotional and mental health and its impact on learning
  • Develop whole-school policies and frameworks for emotional wellbeing and behaviour
  • Embed trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches across the school community
  • Provide practical strategies underpinned by therapeutic and neuroscientific insight
  • Support staff through reflective discussion, mentoring, and supervision

Each training and consultancy programme is bespoke—tailored to your school’s needs, ethos and priorities—and can be delivered as inset days, twilight sessions, workshops or long-term consultancy partnerships.

Key Training Areas

Understanding Attachment & Relational Trauma

Explore how early emotional development and attachment experiences shape children’s capacity to learn and relate. This training draws on psychological and neuroscientific research to help staff understand the roots of behaviour and develop safe, consistent, and relational classroom practice.

Emotional Literacy & Understanding Our Emotions

Developing emotional literacy helps children recognise, name, and regulate their emotions. These sessions introduce practical ways to build emotional understanding and empathy—creating calmer classrooms and stronger relationships.

Building and Developing Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is central to motivation, confidence, and emotional resilience. This training helps staff explore how self-worth develops and how to support children to build a positive sense of self through everyday interactions and classroom culture.

Supporting Children Through Bereavement and Loss

Loss, change and family breakdown affect many children’s lives. These sessions offer safe, compassionate guidance on understanding the grief process and supporting children pastorally and through the curriculum, using stories, play and creative expression.

Therapeutic and Creative Approaches

Discover creative ways to help children express and make sense of their inner world through art, story, play and puppetry. These practical sessions offer simple but powerful techniques to promote emotional safety and communication.

Developing Self-Esteem and Resilience Through Small Group Work

Explore how to design and deliver small group interventions that build social and emotional skills, belonging and resilience. Ideal for Inclusion Leads, ELSAs and pastoral teams.

Understanding and Managing Behaviour – A Whole-School Approach

Behaviour communicates need. This training provides a trauma-informed framework for behaviour policy and practice, offering practical tools and strategies for responding to children with empathy and consistency while maintaining structure and boundaries.

Understanding and Managing Anger and Challenging Behaviour

Gain insight into the roots of anger and challenging behaviour. Learn how to manage your own emotional responses, de-escalate conflict, and help children develop self-regulation and problem-solving skills.

Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution

Practical training for developing peer mediation schemes and empowering children to resolve conflict constructively. Builds empathy, communication and leadership skills among pupils.

Positive Playtimes

Transform playtimes into engaging, inclusive and happy experiences through structured zones, pupil leadership roles and creative play initiatives. Tailored training for children, midday supervisors and pastoral teams.

Developing Whole-School Anti-Bullying Approaches

Support for schools to audit, refresh and strengthen anti-bullying policy and practice. Sessions include awareness training, curriculum development, and the creation of a shared school-wide anti-bullying ethos and charter.

A Bespoke, Relational Partnership

Each training or consultancy project begins with listening, understanding the unique context, culture, and needs of your setting. Whether through one-off workshops or longer-term collaboration, my goal is to support schools in building cultures of emotional safety, curiosity and connection where both children and adults can flourish.
